OVERVIEW PRIVATE TOUR OF LONDON

General overview tour of London (Duration of Tour: 4-6 hours)

On this tour, we will show you: Big Ben, Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Note: these are external tours. To view inside, you will need to purchase tickets separately. It is unlikely that any one person has ever visited all 1200 rooms in the Parliament buildings.
The most famous part of the palace - the clock tower - is recognized globally and is one of the brightest architectural symbols of the city. The tower is 96 meters high and inside there is a hidden narrow spiral staircase of 334 steps.  After climbing all of them, you will arrive at a small open area, which is the famous bell known as Big Ben. It is he who beats upon the hour, and it is his sounds that transmits every hour on the BBC radio. It was this bell that gave the name to the clock and to the tower itself. The bell is large: 2 meters in height and 3 meters in depth. No less striking are the dimensions of the clock: the diameter is 7 meters, and the arrows have a length of 2.7 and 4.2 m.

The watch was launched on May 21, 1859 (the tower itself was built a year earlier) and is still on the list of the world's largest clocks. Four of the dials are made of opal glass, edged with gilded frames and have a Latin inscription which, in translation, means "God save our Queen Victoria." These watches also have a global significance: officially the new year on planet Earth begins with the first strike of Big Ben on January 1st.
You will also visit Saint James’ Park and Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace has been the London residence of the Queen since 1837. When the queen is in the palace, the royal flag is raised. The palace has 775 rooms, 78 of which are bathrooms and 188 are staff living quarters. There are also 1514 doors and 760 windows, which are washed every six weeks. The palace covers an area of over 77,000 square meters. In the late 19th Century, conducted electricity(electricity was introduced to the palace) and now the palace has 40000 light bulbs.

The Palace is only open for visits during the second half of the Summer months, until September, however the exterior of the building deserves attention. If there is good weather, you will see a change of guard.

Change of guard at Buckingham Palace

This takes place from May-July daily and begins at 11:30, with the ceremony lasting 40 minutes. In other months through the day. Clarify this last sentence. When during the day? What happens? To occupy a place at the front of the fence at the palace, you should arrive at least half an hour before the ceremony. During holidays and days of when there is good weather, you should aim to arrive an hour before. The best view through the fence is on the right side of the gate.

Royal Stables (The Royal Mews):

Here, the Queen’s vehicles are exhibited. You will be able to see many cars as well as collections of carriages, including the most famous Gold carriage used for Coronations and special events.

The Queen's Gallery

Here you will find exhibited works of art from the Queen’s collections, including paintings, furniture, ceramics, watches, silver, sculptures, jewellery, books and manuscripts, engravings, weapons and armour. There are also various thematic exhibitions (see Exhibition schedule).

The State Rooms

The halls are where the Queen and members of the Royal family receive guests and hold ceremonies and formal events. For tourists, they are open only 2 months of the year whilst the Queen makes her annual trip to Scotland(on 10th of October 2017 the Queen returned London after nearly 3 months).

Other places we will visit include Trafalgar Square, which was built in memory of England's victory over France at Trafalgar; the famous National Gallery (outside), as well as Piccadilly (a monument to Eros) and the square of the stars, Leicester Square.
