The Cathedral Quarter of Belfast, located in the city center, received its name thanks to the St. Anne Cathedral which is located there. Originally, the quarter was a place of commerce where shopping, arcades and warehouses could be found. Today, the it is also known as the ‘Quarter of Culture’.
Donegal Square, another plaza, is at the heart of modern Belfast. There, you will find buildings of various architectural styles ranging from Victorian to Art Deco to Art Nouveau. The City Hall proudly stands in the center and is a grandiose building made in the baroque style.
On the way to the embankment of the Rover Lagan, we will pass through the Market of St.George, which has been there for more than a Century. During our stroll, we will see the famous Belfast fish, castle, customs building and the clock tower of Prince Albert. We will also visit Belfast Castle, located on the slopes of Cave Hill, and the Royal University which was founded by Queen Victoria in 1845.
During our tour of the old and new towns, it will be possible visit St. Anne's Cathedral, which was built 77 years ago and is a delightful work of architecture. As well as this, we will see the magnificent building of the Queen's University Belfast, created in the Tudor style in 1849. Another point of interest is the Titanic Museum, where you will learn about the history of the creation, launch and destruction of the infamous liner.
